The Enmore church of Christ began in 1987 with 5 members meeting downstairs at the home of Rattie Finlayson. She was not a Christian at the time but agreed to have the Church meet there. This work was assisted by the World Bible School Crusade led by Don and Marian Starks. The Minister, Kenneth Finlayson, was converted through World Bible School studies and was baptized by Jack Epperson of Florence, Alabama in 1985 during the WBS Crusade. By 1990 the Church had grown so that there was no space to meet at the downstairs so they moved across to the Hope West Primary school where they remained until 1996. After 8 long years, the Church was offered a chance to purchase land from the government. A building was erected and now the attendance ranges between 180-210. We have classes for all ages. Children, pre-Teen classes, Men's Leadership Classes as well as Ladies Class. Youth class at 3:00 P.M. each Sunday afternoon. Tuesday's Ladies class is building their Faith. Thursday's Ladies Class is visiting and encouraging. You will find at Enmore a group of loving, caring and hard working Saints. We strive to meet out to those are in need of help. The Enmore church of Christ has began a new project. In February 2001 HOPE Children's Home was established and we opened our doors to the abandoned, neglected and abused children of Guyana. As of May 2004 we have 42 children. We are full and have begun raising funds to construct a much larger facility to accommodate 100 children. Our prayer is that God may use us as a tool to raise these precious children in HIS service. For anyone wanting more information on HOPE Children's Home, please make contact at directors @ hope-childrens-home.org and state that you are interested in HOPE. Please visit our website and see our children and our needs. If ever you are in Guyana, please contact us and we will be more than happy to help you in any way possible.
