BAPTISM (Immersion In Water)
| Matthew 3:5-6 |
Then Jerusalem was going out to him, and all Judea, and all the district
around the Jordan; and they were being baptized by him in the Jordan
River, as they confessed their sins. |
| Mark 1:4-5 |
John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness preaching a baptism
of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. And all the country
of Judea was going out to him, and all the people of Jerusalem; and they
were being baptized by him in the Jordan river, confessing their
sins. |
| Luke 3:3 |
And he came into all the district around the Jordan, preaching a baptism
of repentance for the forgiveness of sins; |
| Luke 3:21-22 |
Now it came about when all the people were baptized, that Jesus
also was baptized, and while He was praying, heaven was opened,
and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and
a voice came out of heaven, "Thou art My beloved Son, in Thee I am well-pleased." |
| Luke 7:29-30 |
And when all the people and the tax-gatherers heard this, they acknowledged
God's justice, having been baptized with the baptism of John. But
the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected God's purpose for themselves,
not having been baptized by John. |
| John 1:25-28 |
And they asked him, and said to him, "Why then are you baptizing,
if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?" John answered
them saying, "I baptize in water, but among you stands One whom
you do not know. It is He who comes after me, the thong of whose
sandal I am not worthy to untie." These things took place in Bethany
beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing. |
| John 4:1-3 |
When therefore the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus
was making and baptizing more disciples than John (although Jesus Himself
was not baptizing, but His disciples were), He left Judea, and departed
again into Galilee. |
Matthew 28:18-
20 |
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been
given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make
disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father
and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded
you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." |
| Mark 16:16 |
He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but
he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. |
| Acts 2:37-38 |
Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said
to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brethren, what shall we do?"
And Peter said to them, "Repent, and let each of you be baptized
in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and
you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. |
| Romans 6:3-7 |
Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into
Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore
we have been buried with Him through baptism into death,
in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the
Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have become
united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also
in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old self was
crucified with Him, that our body of sin might be done away with,
that we should no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed
from sin. |
| Galatians 3:27 |
For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed
yourselves with Christ. |
| 1 Peter 3:21 |
And corresponding to that, baptism now saves you--not the removal
of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through
the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who is at the right hand of God,
having gone into heaven, after angels and authorities and powers had been
subjected to Him. |
