Dear Brethren:
Please share this email with our Christian family in your community. Last June 27, 2009 on Saturday evening someone tried to burn down our church building. At about 7:15 p.m. I was contacted by the Cassia County Sheriff's Office that our church building was on fire. I alerted some of our members and we all arrived to see the Fire Department working to put out the fire. Someone had created the fire within one foot of the gas meter to our building. The fire burned our shrubs, air conditioner, broke four windows and traveled up the side of the building and burned the roof above our church office. The auditorium and the basement were only affected by smoke. The Fire Chief ruled the cause of fire to be suspicious and undetermined. We believe that it was arson. The cost for repairs is estimated at $70,000.00. The roof above our church office will need to be replaced. The roof has cedar-shake shingles, but we want to replace them with a white metal roof instead. This will make our building safer and more energy efficient, but we do not have the funds to do this. The insurance company will only pay for the portion of the roof that was affected by the fire. We will need help to financially pay for a safer roof. God is good and we have been able to worship Him in our building. The smell of smoke is tolerable, but we will need to have the carpet and walls cleaned. Once the re-construction efforts begin we will need to re-locate to a temporary facility. The Best Western Burley Inn Convention Center may be the place for us to meet on a temporary basis.
On June 28 (Sunday evening) I received an email from one of the men who threatened to kill me last year. I have given that email to the police in Rupert and Burley, Idaho. Could this be related to our church fire? Only God knows. This same man is wanted for questioning regarding last year's hit and run vehicular death of one of our members. Since my arrival to Idaho three years ago I have received three death threats from people claiming to be Christians from the Magic Valley of Idaho. Please give my love to all the saints who call upon the name of Jesus in your community. You are all gifts from God to us. I pray that this message touches someone's caring heart. Please remember us in your prayers.
