Preachers' Prayer Meeting

May 19, 1999

Dear Beloved Family of God:

The joy of Jesus is our joy today and tomorrow as we continue walking together up the pathway to God's home in heaven. The wonder and excitement that awaits every Christian once they begin working to win the lost to Jesus is as awesome as our loving heavenly Father. I do not have the words to express this great joy, but the Holy Spirit of God can. It is my sincerest prayer that those of you who read my letters be encouraged as you let the Spirit of Christ lift you up before the presence of Almighty God for being faithful and relentless in your dedication to living the life style of Jesus.

Tomorrow all of the Preachers in Crystal City, Texas will be meeting at our building for prayer. That's all of the preachers regardless of their denominational affiliation. We will be praying for many things namely that Almighty God help us all to work together in an effort to restore the churches to the pattern of New Testament Christianity. It appears that these prayer meetings between the preachers of Crystal City will continue for a long time. One day your local preacher will be doing the same things as I am, and I pray that you will be loving, kind, merciful, and supportive of him as you are today. Today's preacher experiences many stressful long hard working days both inside and outside the vineyard of the Lord. He gives and gives of himself until he is given out, and he does not complain. His love for you and the lost continues to grow as he makes himself poorer and poorer so that you and others in your church will be enriched. These things are all true in the churches of Christ, and if you do not believe me ask your local preacher. Ask him how many times he is told that he is loved and appreciated by the local church. His answer may depress you, but I pray not. Your congregation and your preacher may live the exceptional relationship. In any case tell him you love him, and that you appreciate him, and do the same for his wife and his children. It will not cost you anything to do this, and this action of love is priceless to every man of God.

The Preachers outside of the churches of Christ also suffer as much as we do, and at times even worse than we. It will be an honor to hold this prayer meeting in church building, and everyone is excited that the preachers are praying together. I believe in the power of prayer for it is our real world link to the God of the Most High. Tomorrow we will be praying for the success of our June 3-5, 1999 Gospel Meeting that is designed to call every church to the pattern of New Testament Christianity. Please pray for me as the Lord uses me to reach out to all who call upon the name of Jesus.
